President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (12/20) witnessed the mass contract signing and key handover ceremony for as many as 50,030 subsidized mortgage program for low-income individuals (KPR Sejahtera) under the Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme at Pondok Banten Indah, in Serang, Banten province.

KPR Sejahtera FLPP is a Government program allocating the state budget (APBN) for housing subsidies, providing a 5% and 20-year fixed rate to low-income families for affordable house ownership managed by the Public Housing Savings Management Body (BP Tapera). The program enables low-income families to own their first affordable house.

The ceremony marks the Government’s commitment to its national housing program. As many as 300 contract signings took place in the venue provided by 11 banks, while the other 49,730 were conducted online in 110 different locations across 33 provinces in Indonesia, provided by 39 banks.

Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was welcomed by rampak bedug—a Banten traditional dance reflecting unity and gratitude. The President continued to visit some of the houses. He observed the housing condition, layout, and facilities while having a dialogue with the beneficiaries.

In his remarks, the President noted that KPR FLPP is a Government’s strategic instrument to ensuring people get their right to affordable housing. The President showed appreciation to all sectors who work together to actualize the program.

“Today marks our effort and hard work to help people in need who have the will to live in dignity and a better quality. This is our commitment, our goal. Therefore, thank you to all sectors, we unite today to provide better lives for the people,” he said.

At the ceremony, the President symbolically handed over house keys to some beneficiaries, including a fisherman, a barber, and a seblak [crackers cooked with vegetables, eggs and spicy sauce] seller. He expressed hope that FLPP will reach more people across Indonesia, enabling more people to benefit from the Government housing program.

Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait expressed gratitude to President Prabowo for the pro-people policy. He noted that KPR FLPP provides certainty and a low-rate installment, allowing people to access affordable housing.

“We are truly thankful for zero-cost BPHTB (Land and Building Acquisition Fees) and PBG (Building Construction Approval). This means the pro-people policy is truly for low-income people. Both BPHTB and PBG were costly; now they are free. There is also VAT-free for housing prices under two billion rupiah. These are all pro-people policies,” the Minister said.

The mass handover ceremony marks the Government’s steadfast commitment to providing affordable housing as a foundation of a strong family and nation, as well as to accelerate social equality. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/MUR)
