President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that trade negotiations between Indonesia and the United States have resulted in mutually beneficial understandings based on mutual respect. This was conveyed by President Prabowo in his statement to reporters in Washington, DC, the United States, on Saturday (2/21).

“We discussed trade issues between the two countries. The negotiations have been going on for quite some time which means that we have found mutual benefit and respect. I think it’s good,” said the President.

He said that the trade tariff negotiations process took a long time, but the results are considered positive for Indonesia’s interests. Regarding the latest developments following the United States Supreme Court’s ruling on tariff policy, the President emphasized that the Indonesian Government respects the United States’ domestic political process and is ready to face any evolving possibilities.

“We are ready to face all possibilities. We respect the United States’ domestic policy and we will see how it develops,” he stated.

Regarding the temporary 10 percent tariff policy, the President said that this measure still benefits Indonesia. “I think it’s beneficial. We are ready to face all possibilities,” he added.

In addition to trade issues, President Prabowo also said that in his meetings with several global investment company leaders, business players demonstrated high interest and trust in Indonesia.

“They expressed their strong interest in Indonesia. They have confidence in our (economic) climate that continues to improve. They have a positive outlook on our economy,” the President said.

The Government assured that all diplomatic and trade negotiation steps will continue to be carried out by prioritizing national interests and maintaining the stability and growth prospects of Indonesia’s economy amid global dynamics. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/LW)
