President Prabowo Subianto visited the evacuation tents for displaced families in Bireuen regency, Aceh province, on Sunday (12/07).

During the visit, the President sought to ensure that all the needs of the affected communities were met. He also wanted to hear directly from the affected families about their concerns and hopes during this difficult time.

Upon arriving, President Prabowo was welcomed by hundreds of evacuees who had been waiting since the morning. The evacuation area is currently sheltering around 532 people from Kayee Jato hamlet, who are staying in two large tents equipped with a medical post, clean water facilities, and a public kitchen that operates daily to meet their food needs.

President Prabowo immediately approached the affected families one by one, shook their hands, and listened to their complaints and heartbreaking stories about the condition of their families and homes. An emotional moment occurred when several evacuees broke down in tears as they explained their situation to the President.

In a gentle, reassuring tone, President Prabowo patted the shoulders of the crying evacuees and said, “Please stay strong, stay strong.” He added that the Government would work as quickly as possible.

President Prabowo then headed to the public kitchen to observe the preparations for food distribution to the displaced families. He spoke with volunteers and ensured that logistical supplies remained available. The Head of State even sampled the rice and skipjack tuna prepared as lunch for the evacuees.

The President’s presence among the affected families provided renewed hope for the people of Aceh.

The Government affirmed that additional aid would continue to be sent and various recovery measures would be accelerated until all evacuees could return home safely and in proper conditions.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/LW)
