President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (09/09) led a limited cabinet meeting with a number of ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta.

According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the meeting focused on accelerating the Government’s priority programs and their impact on job creation.

“The presence of 80,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives will absorb at least around 400,000 workers, assuming each cooperative employs a minimum of five new workers,” the Cabinet Secretary said in a written statement.

The Government’s program in the agricultural sector, Teddy added, also contributes to new job creation.

“The Ministry of Agriculture’s replanting program for 870,000 hectares of smallholder plantations will be able to open job opportunities for 1.6 million people over the next two years,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretary detailed other programs. “This year, we are targeting 100 villages for the Red and White Fishermen’s Village program (KNMP) capable of absorbing 7,000 workers. As we advance, the President has set a target to develop 4,000 KNMP points capable of absorbing up to 200,000 workers,” he added.

Furthermore, Teddy revealed job creation figures from programs in the marine and fisheries sector. “Job creation from the Pantura Fishing Pond Revitalization program (covering 20,000 hectares) can reach more than 132,000 people. The modernization program for 1,000 fishing boats is expected to create nearly 600,000 new jobs. And there are several other programs as well,” the Cabinet Secretary concluded.
