During a visit to Sampang regency, East Java province Tuesday (/06/23), President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 1,150 km of regional roads across Indonesia.

The inauguration marked the implementation of the Presidential Directive on Regional Roads (IJD) and took place in the Kedungdung-Bringkoning area, Lar Lar village, Banyuates district.

Upon arrival, the President received a briefing from Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggono on the progress of the IJD program across various regions. The President then proceeded to the main podium to receive a more detailed report.

In his report, Dody explained that the program was an implementation of Presidential Instruction No. 11 of 2025 on accelerating regional road connectivity, aimed at supporting food, energy, and water security.

According to him, the program is designed to safeguard the food supply chain and strengthen connectivity between production centers and consumer markets.

“Through Presidential Instruction No. 11 of 2025, the Government seeks to ensure a smooth and efficient food supply chain from upstream to downstream, while directly linking production centers with consumer markets in a sustainable manner,” said Dodi.

The Minister also noted that the construction of 1,151 km of roads across 37 provinces was allocated a budget of Rp5.41 trillion. He also highlighted that the development targets areas with limited connectivity.

“This achievement underscores the Government’s commitment to infrastructure development that is not centralized, but reaches rural areas across Indonesia, reflecting the principles of inclusivity, equity, and fairness,” he said.

The President also expressed his appreciation for the development of regional roads across Indonesia, emphasizing their strategic roles in supporting regional economy.

“I am proud and pleased that the construction of regional roads, spanning a total of 1,151 kilometers, across 37 provinces in Indonesia, has now been completed,” said the President.

The President also emphasized that the regional roads are essential infrastructure connecting economic activity, from villages to trade centers.

“The presence of these regional roads is vital.  They are the lifeblood of the people’s economy. Through these roads, farmers’ harvests, plantation and fishery products, and other goods can be transported from villages to markets, distribution centers, industrial areas, back again,” the President concluded.
