Gov’t to Accelerate Downstreaming, SOE Restructuring

The Government is set to accelerate downstreaming and the restructuring of state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya made the statement following President Prabowo Subianto’s meeting with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and the executives of sovereign wealth fund Danantara at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor regency, West Java province, on Friday (09/04).
“Accelerating downstreaming is a strategic agenda to increase added value to domestic natural resources, strengthen investment, and maximize economic benefits for Indonesia,” Teddy said in his written statement.
According to Teddy, the meeting also discussed the follow-up on SOE restructuring and downsizing. As of today, 290 SOEs have been closed, saving budgets of up to Rp50 trillion.
The consolidation is set to continue, targeting the closure of at least 700 SOEs as of the end of December 2026 to streamline SEO structures. This restructuring is projected to save budgets of Rp100 trillion.
“The President underscored the importance of restructuring SOEs in a measurable and comprehensive manner to create a more efficient, professional, and healthier state enterprise structure that can contribute optimally to the national economy,” Teddy said.
