President Prabowo emphasized that the state must be present to ensure the health of all Indonesians and that healthcare services should serve as a means for promoting equitable welfare.

“A nation must protect its people in all aspects. First and foremost, their welfare and livelihood. It means that people must be guaranteed free from hunger and poverty, and for that to happen, one of the key steps to lifting people out of poverty is by improving their quality of life, especially through better healthcare,” said President Prabowo in his remarks at the inauguration of the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Bali International Hospital in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday (6/25).

President Prabowo also stated that health and education are essential instruments in achieving social justice. For that reason, the existence of the Sanur SEZ is important in strengthening national self-reliance.

“Education and health are vehicles for equality and instruments for improving welfare. That is why, to build the national self-reliance, this initiative (this health-focused SEZ), is important,” he said.

President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation to his predecessors for their contributions in laying the groundwork for Indonesia’s healthcare services. “We must acknowledge all Presidents before us who pioneered the development of better healthcare services. From our first to our most recent president, all of them have made significant contributions in advancing the country’s healthcare services,” he remarked.

On that occasion, the President also shared his experiences visiting the two new hospitals in Bali, which are the Ngoerah Sun Wellness and the Aesthetic Center and Bali International Hospital. He expressed admiration for the advanced and modern facilities at both hospitals and emphasized the importance of ensuring all Indonesians,  not just a certain class, have access to quality healthcare.

“With our national insurance system, which we must continue to strengthen, healthcare should not be limited to the upper class. Since healthcare service is needed by everyone, if necessary, insurance and government intervention must be provided so that even those with poor economic status can access the best healthcare services,” he stated.

Through the Sanur SEZ, Indonesia is not only building modern healthcare infrastructure but also reinforcing the state’s commitment to providing equitable and inclusive quality healthcare services for all its citizens.
