President Prabowo Resigns as IPSI Chairperson, Emphasizes Regeneration, Lifelong Dedication

President Prabowo attends the 16th National Congress of IPSI for the 2026–2030 Period at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta, on Saturday (04/11).
President Prabowo Subianto announced that he will not continue his role as the General Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Federation (IPSI) during the 16th National Congress of IPSI for the 2026–2030 Period, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta, on Saturday (04/11).
In his remarks, President Prabowo explained that the decision aligns with his significant responsibilities as the Head of State, which demand full focus and prevent him from fulfilling duties at the IPSI optimally.
“Alhamdulillah, today I declare that I will not continue serving as the General Chairperson of the IPSI because I am now bearing national duties that consume my time, making it impossible for me to serve as the General Chairperson of the IPSI,” he said.
President Prabowo also shared that he has dedicated himself for approximately 34 years to the pencak silat world, serving as both the deputy general chairperson and the general chairperson of the IPSI. He expressed pride in contributing to the organization’s long journey in nurturing and developing pencak silat at national and international levels.
Although no longer serving as the General Chairperson, the President reaffirmed his commitment to supporting IPSI and Indonesian pencak silat’s growth. He stressed that a pendekar (pencak silat practitioner) is defined by lifelong dedication, not formal positions.
“I am ready to continue supporting, with or without a position. A pendekar remains one until his/her last breath,” he underscored.
On the occasion, President Prabowo urged the IPSI to prepare strong, visionary leadership regeneration. He is confident that the organization has the best cadres to carry forward the leadership role and advance pencak silat into the future.
“I am certain there are successors who are worthy of continuing IPSI’s leadership, and I will certainly support the IPSI to move forward,” he said.
President Prabowo extended appreciation and gratitude to the entire IPSI family for their support during his tenure. The Head of State expressed hope the IPSI continues as the pioneer in national character building while elevating Indonesia’s name on the global stage. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (EST/TM)
