President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (02/27) led a sunset parade and flag-lowering ceremony at Magelang Military Academy, Central Jawa province. This event was part of regional leaders’ retreat that has taken place since last Friday (02/21).
When inspecting the troops, President Prabowo rode in a Maung tactical vehicle together with the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the 7th President Joko Widodo, as well as Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces General Agus Subiyanto and Chief of the National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
In the meantime, Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani, and Speaker of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin were seen riding the second Maung. Meanwhile, the third tactical vehicle carried Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.
Afterwards, President Prabowo led a moment of silence to honor the heroes who had fought for the nation and state. “Let us observe a moment of silence in remembrance of services of the heroes,” he said.
As the Red and White Flag was lowered, ceremony attendees stood upright in an atmosphere full of nationalism and respect for the state symbol. The procession continued with a salute to President Prabowo as the ceremony inspector and ended when he left the ceremonial ground.
In addition to being a tribute to the Red and White Flag, the sunset parade was also a moment of reflection for the regional leaders who participated in the retreat. The event aimed to strengthen coordination between the Central and regional governments in facing challenges in some areas, including security, regional development, and people’s welfare. The participation of national and regional leaders was expected to lift the national spirit and encourage togetherness in preserving unity and promoting the nation’s development.
