President Prabowo, PM Thailand Discuss Regional and Global Challenges

The Indonesian Government continues to strengthen its engagement with world leaders and prominent figures through cordial and friendly meetings. This commitment was once again reflected when the President received former Prime Minister of Thailand (2001-2006) Thaksin Shinawatra and his family at the President’s private residence in Kertanegara, Jakarta, on Wednesday (07/08) evening.

“After seeing off Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, at Yogyakarta International Airport, the President received former Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Shinawatra and his family at his private residence in Kertanegara,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in a written release.

The meeting, which was also attended by Thaksin’s daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra (Prime Minister of Thailand for the 2024-2025 period), served as a momentum to further strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two figures.

“In a relaxed atmosphere, the President and Thaksin also exchanged views on various global strategic developments and regional dynamics,” the Cabinet Secretary added.

In addition to having served as Thailand’s Prime Minister from 2001 to 2006, Thaksin currently contributes to Indonesia as a member of Danantara Advisory Board. His presence at the meeting reflected the close ties that continue to be fostered across various fields.

The Indonesian Government remains committed to strengthening its network of friendship with world leaders and prominent figures as part of its efforts to expand international cooperation amidst an increasingly dynamic global landscape.

“Through meetings such as this, the Government of Indonesia continues to strengthen its network of friendship and communication with world leaders and figures as part of its efforts to expand cooperation and reinforce Indonesia’s position amidst evolving global dynamics,” the Cabinet Secretary stated.
