President Prabowo Witnesses US$23.63 Billion Business Deals between Indonesia-Japan in Tokyo, Marking Indonesia’s Position as Investment Magnet

President Prabowo Subianto witnesses the announcement of 10 MoUs and a cooperation agreement at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum at Imperial Hotel Tokyo, Japan, Monday (03/30).
President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (03/30) witnessed in person the announcement of 10 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and a strategic cooperation agreement between Indonesian and Japanese businesses at the Japan-Indonesia Business Forum, held at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, Japan. The deals reached at the forum are worth US$23.63 billion or Rp401.71 trillion.
In President Prabowo’s presence, representatives of each business from both countries reported and presented the cooperation they had agreed on to the President, thereby marking both countries’ strong commitment to advancing concrete collaboration. This partnership also showed a high level of trust in Indonesia’s economic outlook.
The agreements announced include the development of downstream projects based on clean energy, such as production of methanol derived from carbon emission, oil and gas exploration, geothermal energy development, and advancement of inclusive financial ecosystem and strategic investment projects.
The MoUs and the strategic cooperation agreement announced are as follows:
- MoU on methanol production utilizing CO2 emissions from Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (PKT, a state-owned fertilizer producer) in Bontang, East Kalimantan, between Pupuk Kalimantan Timur and Kaltim Methanol Industri;
- MoU on cooperation in trade, commerce, and investment between Indonesia’s Chamber of Trade and Commerce (Kadin) and Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
- Strategic cooperation agreement on the development of the Abadi gas field in the Masela Block, Indonesia, between Pertamina (Persero) and INPEX Corporation;
- MoU on potential partnership opportunities in the upstream oil and gas sectors in Indonesia and Southeast Asia between Pertamina Hulu Energi and INPEX;
- MoU on the development of a semiconductor ecosystem in Indonesia and Japan, including electronic chip design and manufacturing and artificial intelligence, between Eblo Teknologi Indonesia and Hayashi Kinzoku Co., Ltd.;
- MoU covering various studies toward the realization of the Rajabasa geothermal power plant project between Supreme Energy Rajabasa and INPEX;
- MoU between SMBC Indonesia and Pegadaian (a state-owned pawnshop) to contribute to Indonesia’s gold ecosystem and financial inclusion between Pegadaian and Bank SMBC Indonesia;
- MoU on the Indonesia-Japan Strategic Beauty Partnership between Nose Herbal Indo and 2Way World;
- MoU on Mandiri Aviation Leasing Fund between Danantara, Mandiri Investment Management, and SMBC Aviation Capital;
- MoU on strengthening cooperation between Japan External Trade Organization and Danantara Investment Management;
- MoU on Hululais Geothermal Power Plant Project between the Government of Indonesia and JICA.
Under President Prabowo’s leadership, this forum serves as a key stage to show Indonesia’s economic transformation toward more modern, competitive, and sustainable economy.
