President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of strategic partnership between Indonesia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in promoting regional peace and stability. According to the President, both countries’ bilateral relations are highly strategic and promising.

“I consider the relations between Indonesia and China to be highly strategic, very important, and full of promise, also capable of influencing the state of peace and stability in our region,” said President Prabowo in his remarks at the Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025, held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, on Saturday (05/24).

In his speech, President Prabowo also recalled the tremendous honor he received during his first visit to China, even before his official inauguration as the President of Indonesia. “Even after my inauguration, perhaps less than three weeks later, the first country I visited officially as President of the Republic of Indonesia was the People’s Republic of China,” he noted.

The President expressed appreciation to noble values of Chinese civilization, which emphasize mutual benefit and harmony. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation with China, Indonesia’s largest trading partner.

“Our trade has exceeded US$130 billion annually, and we view China as a very important partner in the development of our industry and technology,” he said.

He added that several major cooperation projects between Indonesia and Chinese companies have already been successfully running, from trade to technology. The President also acknowledged the contributions of Chinese companies in creating jobs, facilitating technology transfer, and aligning with Indonesia’s national interests.

“This trade, investment, and technology partnership is a proof of our shared commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous future for both our nations, one that is greener and more environmentally friendly,” he added.

President Prabowo stressed that Indonesia-China relations should not be confined to economic matters alone. He called for broader cooperation across various sectors.

“I would like to convey that with such strong economic ties, let us not limit our relations to just the economic domain. We must also foster deeper friendship and cooperation in all fields,” he said.

The President also highlighted China’s historical role in defending the interests of developing nations, particularly its support for the Palestinian people.

“To this day, we see China’s leadership, especially in standing up for the Palestinian people, as a source of pride for all of us,” he remarked.

Concluding his speech, President Prabowo invited Chinese investors to continue exploring opportunities in Indonesia, including in education, healthcare, tourism, and science and technology. He also encouraged Indonesian businesses to embrace China as a partner in joint production and innovation.

“We welcome this partnership as a step toward a bright future, a future full of hope, one that will bring blessings and peace to our region,” he concluded. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat) (AS/MMB)
