President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (01/29) summoned Minister of Public Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait to his private residence in Hambalang.

“President Prabowo received Minister of Public Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait at his private residence in Hambalang on Jan. 29, 2026. The meeting, which lasted more than one hour, discussed several housing-related issues,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a written statement.

According to Teddy, President Prabowo received a report on the progress of a number of government-prepared subsidized housing projects. These include land clearing on a 30-hectare site in Cikarang, Bekasi regency, which will be used for the construction of subsidized apartment blocks, as well as plans for the groundbreaking of 141,000 subsidized housing units to be built across three adjacent areas.

He added that the subsidized housing developments will be located close to schools, hospitals, office districts, industrial zones, and major roads. “It is estimated that around 80,000 jobs will be created across various sectors, accelerating economic activity due to these constructions,” he added.

The Cabinet Secretary also said that President Prabowo reaffirmed his commitment to expanding public access to decent housing.

“President Prabowo, through the Minister of Public Housing and Settlement Areas, aims to ensure that as many Indonesians as possible can obtain decent and affordable housing across all elements of society. One of the measures is the provision of subsidized housing, along with the streamlining of permits and the reduction of licensing and administrative costs,” Teddy remarked.
