Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya delivers a press statement during Eid Festival at the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta, on Saturday (03/29).

Eid Festival held at National Monument (Monas) area on Saturday (03/28) was not only about a stage performance, but was a momentum to promote economic transactions for MSMEs. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya noted that the MSMEs’ participation was a key part of the public bazaar.

“In promoting MSMEs, merchants from Tanah Abang, Pasar Senen, Pasar Ular, and other markets around Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area are invited by Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman, so that we can buy their products, and the visitors were given free coupons for shopping,” he continued.

“Each coupon valued Rp500,000, consisted of Rp300,000 for groceries, and Rp200,000 for products sold by the participating MSMEs,” he explained.

Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the festival was not only for distributing assistance but also for promoting economic transactions. “The idea was mainly to share Eid joy, for those who stay in Jakarta, or just got back to Jakarta,” he said.

Minister of MSMEs stated that the festival is held not only to give public entertainment, but also to bring real economic impacts to small businesspeople. He also emphasized that the post-Eid momentum is used to drive MSMEs’ economic activities.

“[The festival] creates economic impacts on merchants in Tanah Abang, Pasar Senen, Bandung markets, and local shoemakers; the economy is moving because they can clear their stocks so that they can restock their products,” he said.

Amidst the warm atmosphere of Eid, the state conveyed a strong message that with the right concept, the people’s happiness and economic growth can be both facilitated. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/MMB)
