President Prabowo Subianto (04/09) inaugurated commercial electric vehicle assembly plant of PT VKTR Sakti Industries in Magelang regency, Central Java province, marking an important momentum in promoting national industrialization based on technology and clean energy.

This inauguration reflects Indonesia’s determination to step up the from being a user of technology to becoming a producer or a key player. This also steers the direction of national development, focusing on downstream industrialization, innovation, and economic self-reliance.

In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the initiative and consistency of the national private sector in playing a strategic role in industrial development. He lauded the VKTR’s President Commissioner, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, along with his business group, for taking the initiative in building an EV assembly plant. Their initiative shows a strong vision in supporting the nation’s transformation.

“I strongly welcome and appreciate this event, the initiative that has been taken over the past few years by Anindya Bakrie, along with his family and the entire business group,” the President said.

The President underscored that industrialization is crucial in a nation’s technological resurgence. Therefore, he added, mastery of technology must be pushed for supporting the industries that provide concrete added value for the people and the state.

“Industrialization is the final part of a nation’s technological resurgence. Technology must be transformed into industry that benefits the nation,” he added.

The President went on to say that a country as big as Indonesia must be able to be self dependent in strategic sectors, particularly energy and food. For that reason, the development of electric vehicle industry serves as a concrete step toward energy independence as well as the strengthening of the national industry.

On that occasion, the President also expressed his hope that VKTR can grow into one of Indonesia’s key EV companies in the automotive sector, on par with major global companies.

“If Japan has Isuzu and Hino, and Korea has Hyundai and Daewoo, I hope we will see VKTR as one of Indonesia’s key companies in the coming years,” the President concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/MMB)
