Indonesia, India Strengthen Strategic Partnership Through 16 Cooperation Agreements

The bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, resulted in 16 mutually beneficial agreements.

During the meeting held on Tuesday (07/07), Indonesia and India concluded a number of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

“We are confident that these agreements will be implemented promptly, delivering tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries,” the President stated.

In the presence of President Prabowo Subianto and PM Modi, the two sides exchanged the Extension of the Framework Agreement between the National Research and Innovation Agency Indonesia and the Indian Space Research Organization on Cooperation in the Exploration and Uses of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes.

Indonesia and India also announced 15 other documents encompassing cooperation across a range of strategic sectors, including defense, energy, health, culture, and technology.

The announced documents are as follows:

1. Protocol Extension of the Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation;
2. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Disaster Management;
3. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Minerals and Technologies for the Steel Supply Chain;
4. Implementing Arrangement (IA) on Health Workforce Collaboration;
5. Letter of Intent for the Conservation and Restoration of Prambanan Temple Complex, Indonesia;
6. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Telecommunications Technologies and Services;
7. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Medical Products Regulation;
8. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Agriculture;
9. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Management and Technology Utilization in Elections;
10. Memorandum of Understanding on Research, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation;
11. Contract Signing for BrahMos Missile Defense System between BrahMos and the Ministry of Defense;
12. Air-to-Air Missile Cooperation Agreement between Bharat Dynamics and Republikorp;
13. Memorandum of Understanding between Non-Ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC), Midwest Ltds., and PT. Perusahaan Mineral Nasional (PERMINAS);
14. Strategic Joint Venture between Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and PT. Krakatau Steel; and
15. Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and PT. Intelegensi Grahatama.

The agreements reached during the meeting reflect the strong commitment of Indonesia and India to further strengthen their bilateral relations.
