Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia on the Inauguration of the 2025 Presidential Instruction: Regional Roads Totalling 1,151 Kilometres across Indonesia, June 23, 2026

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Good afternoon,

May peace be upon us all.

Distinguished Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, as the host of this event, and officials and staffers of the Ministry of Public Works whom I deeply appreciate;

Distinguished Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan; Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia; Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi; and Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya;

Distinguished Regent of Sampang Slamet Junaidi, and members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Sampang;

The District Military Commander (Dandim), Chief of District Police (Kapolres), and Chief District Prosecutor (Kajari);

Distinguished Governors, Regents, Vice Regents, Regional Heads, and Mayors, whether attending in person or participating via video conference;

Distinguished community leaders and respected Islamic scholars;

Ladies and gentlemen,

According to the list before me, the following Regents and Regional Heads are in attendance:

Distinguished Regent of Madiun Hari Wuryanto; Regent of Lumajang Indah Amperawati; Regent of Jember Muhammad Fawait; and Regent of Pamekasan Kyai Haji Kholilurrahman.

Distinguished Vice Regent of Sumenep Kyai Haji Imam Hasyim; Vice Regent of Pacitan Gagarin Sumrambah—I wonder whether your father was an admirer of Yuri Gagarin? —and Vice Regent of Banyuwangi Mujiono.

I would also like to thank the distinguished community leaders who are present with us today.

Is there any community leader, Regional Head, or Vice Regent whose name I have not yet mentioned? Ah, Sidoarjo.

Distinguished Vice Regent of Sidoarjo Mimik Idayana; Head of Kedungdung Subdistrict Syamsul Bahri; Secretary of Banyuates Subdistrict Zahri; community leader of Batuporo Barat Village Ribut and Kyai Haji Rasmin; community leader of Batuporo Timur Village Wasik; community leader of Lar-Lar Village Kholirrahman, Kusnandi, and Kyai Haji Muzahi Yusuf.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Many governors are attending via Zoom. I express my gratitude for your presence, Governors. If I were to name everyone, there are 36 regents present, not to mention their vice regents. To save time, I will proceed directly to the inauguration.

First and foremost, let us continuously offer praise and gratitude to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, the Almighty, the Sovereign of the universe, for all the blessings, goodness, and peace bestowed upon us, the people of Indonesia. We are also thankful for the health given to us, which allows us to gather this afternoon to inaugurate the completion of the 2025 Presidential Instruction: Regional Roads totalling 1,151 kilometres across Indonesia for the year 2025.

I welcome with pride and joy the completion of regional road construction totalling 1,151 kilometres across Indonesia, spanning 37 provinces. The regional roads carry great significance, since they are the lifeblood of the people’s economy. Through these roads, farmers’ harvests, plantation products, fishery yields, and various community goods move from villages to markets, distribution centres, and industrial areas, and conversely, from those centres to the villages.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Indonesia is a vast country with a wide territory and diverse geographic conditions. Transportation costs become lower when roads are adequate and there is connectivity among all production centres and residential areas.

Ladies and gentlemen,

We are determined that no region should be left behind due to limited access. We must reduce logistics costs for all our people and for our economy. Good roads are part of our resilience strategy. Food self-sufficiency is not only about seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation. Energy self-sufficiency is not only about supply, but also depends on a smooth and reliable distribution network. Energy must reach communities in productive areas.

Ladies and gentlemen,

With the completion of these regional roads, I call on all local governments to maintain and make the best use of this infrastructure. In the coming years, we will increase funding for development across all regions down to the villages. Accordingly, I extend my appreciation for the hard work of all agencies involved, especially Ministry of Public Works and its personnel, assisted by regional governments.

Ladies and gentlemen,

We observe that the quality is quite good, and this must be maintained. All expenditures of the people’s money must be carried out in the best possible manner.

That is all from me. Once again, I thank all parties involved. And now, I hereby inaugurate 1,151 regional roads. Thank you.
