Indonesian Community Welcomes President Prabowo in Washington D.C.

President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday (11/10) was warmly welcomed by Indonesian diaspora who had been waiting outside the hotel where the Head of State would be staying in Washington, D.C., the United States.

Diana, a diaspora living in New York, said she had been waiting for the moment to meet Prabowo since 2014.

“We started coming here in the morning; we took a bus, and although there was a delay and we had to switch buses, it’s all worth it to meet the President. I even cried, very moved by the trip. Alhamdulillah, Mr Prabowo is our President. We love you, sir,” Diana said.

Vanesa Angela and her cousin, Jay, also expressed their happiness at meeting President Prabowo in person. They both prayed that President Prabowo remains healthy in carrying out his duties.

In the meantime, Fauzan, a student studying in the United States, expressed hope that the visit would enhance bilateral relations between the two countries. Fauzan also expressed hope that President Prabowo’s meeting with President Joe Biden and several U.S. officials will strengthen cooperation in various fields, including economy, security, and education.

“It was very exciting to meet Mr President in the country where we’re studying. Moreover, the relations between Indonesia and America are something we also learn about in college, and we hope that with Mr Prabowo’s visit, the ties between the two countries will continue to flourish,” Fauzan said.

Memes Wisoko, a member of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), expressed her pride to meet and shake hands directly with President Prabowo. Memes said that President Prabowo will enhance cooperation with the United States for Indonesia’s advancement.

“Mr Prabowo is very dignified, smart, and friendly. Our hope is that he can make our country’s voice heard, and enhance relations and cooperation for the advancement of Indonesia,” she remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (RI/MMB)
