President Prabowo Affirms Indonesia’s Non-Aligned Policy in EEF
President Prabowo Subianto in the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) said that Indonesia is open to further develop relations and cooperation with all countries, including the world major powers. He said that openness is part of Indonesia’s policies implemented for several decades.
“Indonesia has been very open for decades. We are open about our policies. We have always said that we want to have the best relations with all countries, with all major powers. By tradition, we are non-aligned. As I have said, we are not part of any military alliance. We respect all powers,” he said.
In economic sector, he said, Indonesia also upholds independency and openness to cooperate with all partners. Indonesia also offers a fair trade relation to nations interested in fostering cooperation.
“However, as I have said, we are very open. Everyone knows, all parties know that we will not cooperate with one group to go against the interests of another group. We will treat everyone who wants to come to Indonesia equally. We will give the same treatment to everyone who comes to Indonesia and we negotiate. We do not want to threaten anyone. So, that is our position,” he firmly said.
In the meantime, President Vladimir Putin also highlighted Indonesia’s strategic position. As one of the largest countries in the world with a Muslim population, Indonesia holds an important position in global dynamics alongside major nations like China and India.
“I would like to call attention to the reality that Indonesia is not merely defined by having the world’s largest Muslim population, but by its status as one of the global truly major powers.
