President Jokowi Opens, Participates in 2024 TNI Fun Run in Nusantara Capital
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by the First Lady Ibu Irirana Jokowi, Sunday (10/06) officially opened the 2024 Nusantara Indonesian Military (TNI) Fun Run took place in the new capital of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan province.
The President and the First Lady arrived at the event venue around 5.55 Central Indonesia Time (WITA), with President Jokowi looking relaxed and ready to kick off the fun run while wearing a uniform sports shirt alongside the participants.
“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning I officially declare the Nusantara TNI Fun Run open. 3…2…1…,” the President said as he waved the flag to signal the start of the event.
This event drew thousands of participants, including residents from Balikpapan, Samarinda, and the surrounding IKN area, as well as members of the running community, various state officials, SOEs directors, and both local and national influencers.
After finishing the running route, participants enjoyed performances by artists Nella Kharisma and the Black Forest Band, contributing to a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
On that occasion, the President underscored the importance of fostering crowds and a social ecosystem in the IKN. He also expressed appreciation for the event and the presence of various coffee shops that enhanced the vibrant atmosphere in the area.
“In Nusantara, it is essential to continuously create and sustain crowds to foster a thriving ecosystem. Just a few weeks ago, there were no cafes here, but now we have Excelso, and soon there will be Sederhana restaurant. Everything is coming together,” he said.
For the record, the event was held by PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk in collaboration with the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and IKN as part of the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the TNI as well as to introduce the IKN to wider community.
The event is part of the initiative to support Indonesia’s Vision 2045, which aims to establish the country as ‘a World City for All’. It is deemed to have a positive impact on the communiy and is expected to encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
