President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that Pancasila must be the primary foundation for national development, including building pro-people economic system. The President delivered this statement when he led the commemoration ceremony of the Birth of Pancasila in 2026, held at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, on Monday (06/01).

In his remarks, President Prabowo emphasized that Pancasila should not be viewed merely as a historical document or a slogan uttered at state ceremonies. He said the values of Pancasila must be a concrete guideline in national, social, and state life.

“One of Indonesia’s major challenges today is ensuring that our economic development truly aligns with the values of Pancasila. Let us always be honest with ourselves. We must acknowledge our weaknesses and difficulties,” he said.

The President said further that Indonesia has indeed recorded the economic growth in recent decades. However, Indonesia should keep striving for this growth so that all Indonesians can receive its benefits more evenly and fairly.

“Over the past few decades, Indonesia’s economy has indeed grown. But is it true that the growth has been evenly distributed and the benefits fairly reach all Indonesians? Let us be honest about the reality we face today,” he added.

Furthermore, the Head of State emphasized that Indonesia is endowed with vast natural resources that are highly needed by the world. He said that Indonesia is a main producer of various important commodities.

“We are one of the largest producers of essential minerals, such as copper, tin, gold, and rare earth metals. We are producers of palm oil, coal, nickel, and other crucial agricultural commodities. We are even self-sufficient now in food amid many countries in the world facing difficulties,” said the President.

President Prabowo realized that national wealth has not fully provided optimal benefits for the people’s welfare for years. The added value of Indonesia’s natural resources is mostly enjoyed by other countries, while the people have not fully become the main actors in managing their own national wealth.

“As the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, with people’s mandate sworn in before the people, I am responsible for transforming the nation, especially the transformation of our national economy. It is a transformation from an economy not fully based on Pancasila to an economy truly based on Pancasila,” he concluded.

Through the Pancasila Day commemoration, President Prabowo called on all elements of the nation to use Pancasila as a guideline in building a more just, prosperous, and sovereign Indonesia. He believes that Pancasila economy is not just a concept, but a path to ensure that the nation’s wealth will truly become a source of prosperity for all Indonesians.
