Cabinet Secretary: President Prabowo Affirms Commitment to Provide Free Public Education

President Prabowo Subianto strives to expand access to proper and equitable education for all Indonesian children, regardless of their family circumstances and backgrounds. One of the commitments currently being realized is to provide free public education from elementary level to university level.

In his written remarks on Monday (09/21), Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that all Indonesian children deserve equal opportunities to build their future through education.

“Every Indonesian child, regardless of their family and background, deserves proper education and equal opportunities to build their future,” he said.

To realize its commitment, the Government is accelerating the implementation of a number of concrete measures. In addition to providing free public education, the Government is also making continuous efforts to improve school buildings and facilities in order to provide students with good and safe learning environment.

Meanwhile, the Government also pays special attention to improving teachers’ welfare and increasing their salaries as an essential part of efforts to enhance the national educational quality. The previous government had also implemented measures to improve teachers’ welfare and develop their professional competencies.

For President Prabowo, human resource development is an important investment in the nation’s future. Therefore, education is placed as one of the foundations for building a strong and outstanding Indonesian people, while providing them with opportunities to achieve their aspirations.
