Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Bilateral Meeting with the President of the Russian Federation during Working Visit to Russia in Vladivostok, Thursday, September 03, 2026
Thank you, Your Excellency President Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
First and foremost, I am very pleased to meet Your Excellency once again. Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to me. I feel deeply honored and delighted to visit Vladivostok.
First, please allow me to extend my congratulations on the commemoration of the National Day of the Russian Federation on June 12, 2026, as well as on the convening of the 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit on June 18, 2026.
I offer my deepest apologies for not being able to attend these important occasions due to domestic matters that I could not leave behind. However, I [intended to] make up for it by being here in Vladivostok.
Once again, thank you.
Indonesia and Russia share deep historical ties spanning more than five decades. For Indonesia, Russia is a highly significant partner. Therefore, we are proud and delighted that our relation was elevated to a strategic partnership last year.
Once again, we are honored to participate in the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). This forum holds immense potential to serve as a bridge for cooperation and connectivity in our region. We are both Pacific nations, and for us, as an archipelagic country, maritime connectivity and cooperation are of utmost importance. Indonesia will continue to strive to enhance cooperation across all sectors to achieve mutual benefits for our two countries.
In several areas, our relations continue to flourish. As Your Excellency has noted, in the economic sector, our trade has increased. Cooperation across various other fields has also made significant progress. We stand ready to further elevate this cooperation.
Thank you.
