President Prabowo Receives Deputy PM of Malaysia, Discusses Gaza Issue

President Prabowo Subianto warmly received Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi during a courtesy call at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (04/22), reaffirming the close ties between Indonesia and Malaysia while also strengthening the personal bond between the two leaders.

The meeting unfolded with great warmth in an atmosphere of deep friendship. President Prabowo said that he was feeling nostalgic for his old friend Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi.

President Prabowo also stated that the two leaders exchanged views and information on global and economic issues and discussed cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia.

On the occasion, both leaders also discussed the Trump Tariff, a current topic of global discussion. “How can we not discuss it? It is currently a global discussion,” the President added.

Gaza-related issues also remained in the discussion between the two as they are the leaders of two countries with predominantly Muslim populations.

“Yes, we talked about Gaza. After all, our people are mostly Muslims,” he added.

President Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for the visit and hopes that the ties between the two countries can be further deepened and provide positive impacts on both countries. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/MUR)
