President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday (12/07) reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that food supplies for the people affected by flooding in Aceh province remain secure.

“We will send food from other regions. Our reserves are still sufficient. Also, we will cancel KUR (smallholder business credit) loans since this is a natural disaster so farmers should not worry,” President Prabowo said after inspecting the construction of the Teupin Mane Bailey Bridge in Bireuen regency, Aceh province.

During the inspection, the Head of State discussed with personnel on the ground, including those of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), technical teams from Ministry of Public Works, and volunteers.

“After seeing the situations, all ministries/agencies are working well. They are working hand in hand with local communities, local governments, the police, and TNI,” President Prabowo said, adding that he has appointed Army Chief of Staff Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak to lead the accelerated infrastructure repairs.

The Government remains committed to ensuring that all recovery efforts proceed quickly, remain well-coordinated, and follow safety standards so that people in Aceh can resume their daily activities safely and immediately. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/MUR)
