President Prabowo Welcomes Queen Máxima of the Netherlands in Jakarta

President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (11/27), received Queen Máxima of the Netherlands at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate (UNSGSA) for Financial Health.

Queen Máxima and the royal escort arrived at the Merdeka Palace at 12 p.m., and was welcomed by the troops of honor. The welcoming ceremony was also enlivened by “Indang” traditional dance and musical performances representing West Sumatra province.

Upon stepping out of her vehicle, Queen Máxima was greeted directly by President Prabowo Subianto. The two exchanged a warm handshake before President Prabowo invited the Queen to watch Indang Dance performance taking place at the venue. Queen Máxima visibly enjoyed the cultural showcase, smiling and expressing her appreciation to the dancers at the end of the performance.

Following the welcoming ceremony, President Prabowo and Queen Máxima entered the Merdeka Palace together. On the main veranda, President Prabowo introduced the members of the Indonesian delegation in attendance, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Vice Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Commissioner Friderica Dewi, senior journalist Najwa Shihab, and Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti.

Afterwards, both leaders headed to the credential room for a photo session which was followed by a tête-à-tête meeting at the Presidential office. During the meeting, the President and the Queen shared their views on various issues relating UNSGSA missions.

The discussion was continued over a working lunch hosted by President Prabowo, attended by both leaders and their respective delegations. As they enjoyed their meals, they explored opportunities for strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing a sustainable and inclusive financial ecosystem.

The meeting of President Prabowo and Queen Máxima affirmed Indonesia’s commitment in strengthening inclusive and healthy financial architecture for the community. In addition, the meeting is also expected to accelerate transformation of the digital financial sector, expanding credit inclusion for workers and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), improving access to adequate housing, strengthening consumer protection against financial fraud, and enhancing overall public welfare.
