In a bid to tackle natural disasters affecting several regions across the country, the Government has acted swiftly from the very first day to deliver assistance through multiple channels, both by land and by air.

In his remarks at the Peak Event of the 2025 Teachers’ Day Commemoration at the Indonesia Arena on Friday (28/11), President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that despite persistent challenges on the ground, including limited access and unpredictable weather conditions, various efforts continue to be intensified to fulfill the needs of affected residents.

“The Government has acted fast. We have responded from the very first days, delivering assistance through both land and air operations. However, the conditions are indeed extremely challenging, with many areas isolated and weather conditions remaining unfavorable. At times, our helicopters and aircraft encounter difficulties landing. This morning, we have deployed three Hercules C-130 aircraft and one A-400 aircraft. This marks yet another round of assistance, and we will continue providing support to meet the needs on the ground,” President Prabowo stated.

Furthermore, the President highlighted the importance of national preparedness in facing global challenges, including climate change and environmental degradation, which pose the potential to trigger disasters.

On that occasion, the Head of State also encouraged the enhanced environmental education in schools throughout Indonesia.

“This also reminds us that the world is full of challenges. Climate change, global warming, and environmental damage. These are issues we must confront. I believe teachers across Indonesia have already begun addressing this, and I am confident they have. However, we may need to further integrate environmental awareness into syllabuses, into subjects, and into the emphasis on preserving our natural environment and forests,” he said.

Furthermore, the President stressed that environmental preservation must begin at home and evolve into a collective movement across the community.

To that end, President Prabowo also called for concrete actions, such as preventing deforestation and ensuring that rivers remain clean to better withstand potential disasters.

“We must truly prevent the cutting down of trees and the destruction of forests. We must also keep our rivers clean so they can carry sudden surges of water. Ladies and gentlemen, this will be our shared responsibility, with every household playing its part,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RIF/MUR)
