Om Swastiastu,
Namo Buddhaya,
Greetings of Virtue.
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, press, and media across the country,
I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, and on my own behalf, would like to extend my sincere congratulations on the 79th National Press Day to all members of the press in Indonesia.
Over the past eight decades, the press in Indonesia has become an important pillar in democratic life, voicing the truth, and providing accurate information to the people of Indonesia.
I appreciate the hard work of journalists, reporters, press, and media professionals who continue to serve with dedication, despite the increasingly complex challenges they face. I also understand that the press today is facing various dynamics, both from domestic and outside the country.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
A professional press who has integrity is an asset to a nation. However, I must remind you that the Indonesian press must always put the interests of the nation, the state, and the people of Indonesia above everything. We must remain vigilant against efforts to control thought and influence public opinion using large capital. There is a tendency in the world today that those with large capital are trying to control the media and influence the public in certain countries.
While we uphold press freedom, we must be cautious of the spread of false news, hoaxes, hate speech, the spreading of distrust among fellow citizens, and divisive efforts. We must stay vigilant to these issues.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Indonesian press must always be dynamic, responsible, and understand what serves the interests of the nation and the state. I believe the Indonesian press will remain loyal to the principles of the nation’s founders. The Indonesian press must uphold Pancasila, be involved in national development, and be committed to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
May prosperity be upon us all,
