President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday (12/31) welcomed Presidential Chief of Staff Muhammad Qodari and Vice Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Fahri Hamzah at Presidential Palace, discussing Government priorities.

After the meeting, Qodari noted President Prabowo’s appreciation for the Government’s accomplishments in priority sectors, including the provision of free nutritious meals (MBG), Danantara’s expanded role, and the development of the Red-White cooperatives.

“Mr. President has been feeling grateful towards [Government] achievements,” said Qodari at a press conference.

Qodari added that President Prabowo showed strong optimism for the year ahead, particularly in 2026-2027. The President emphasized priority programs for the benefit of people’s welfare and the national economy, he continued.

“The President mentioned velocity of money, in which every penny and rupiah to spend has a multiplier effect. So, next year we will deliver this,” said Qodari.

Regarding post-disaster rehabilitation, Qodari emphasized that this will not hinder national priorities. The Government has taken anticipative measures through [budget] efficiency and optimalization.

In sha Allah (God willing), the emergency response budget will not hamper the priorities because the President has implemented cost-saving measures. Besides efficiency efforts, there are also other funding sources from law enforcement activities, including restructuring of oil palm plantation, smuggling prevention, and later the mining sector,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Fahri Hamzah explained that President Prabowo gave directives on accelerated housing renovation [across Indonesia]. Fahri said that the Government has set a budget allocation for housing renovations in the 2026 state budget.

“In the 2026 state budget, there is an allocation for housing renovations for 400 thousand [units]. Furthermore, Mr. President agreed on increasing the allocation up to 2 million [units],” said Fahri.

The main challenge will be in urban cities due to limited land and spatial complexity. Therefore, the Government is preparing an accelerated mechanism through necessary regulations.

“We need an accelerated mechanism for the one million [units] in urban cities because of their complexity. Currently, we are designing the concept through special regulations—possibly in the form of presidential regulation or government regulation,” he concluded.
