Gov’t to Improve Healthcare, Education in Miangas, Indonesia’s Northernmost Outer Island

President Prabowo Subianto visited Miangas Special sub-district, Talaud Islands regency, North Sulawesi province, on Saturday (05/09) to observe public facilities in the region, particularly the Community Health Centers (Puskesmas).

Upon arrival at the State Vocational High School Talaud 2, the President received warm welcome from local residents and school students who sang the song “Maju Tak Gentar” together.

A sense of togetherness was reflected as the President greeted the people, invited them to sing together and made several jokes that were met with laughter from the crowd.

“Thank you for warm welcome. I came to see the conditions on Miangas Island, the northernmost outer island of the Republic of Indonesia,” said the President.

On that occasion, he said that the Government will immediately rehabilitate healthcare facilities in the region, noting that the Puskesmas had never been renovated, for many years, dating back to President Suharto’s era.

Furthermore, he also ensured that the Government would continue renovating schools across Indonesia, including in Miangas. According to him, the school renovation program will be carried out gradually over the next few years to improve the quality of educational facilities.

“We will renovate all schools. We will renovate the schools this year and hopefully we will also renovate schools throughout Indonesia in two or three years,” he added.

Afterwards, the President and the residents were seen dancing together to “Tabola Bale” song, creating a joyful atmosphere amid the togetherness between the people of Miangas and the Head of State. For the local community, the moment of togetherness became an unforgettable experience as they spent a Saturday afternoon with the President in Indonesia’s northernmost region.
