President Prabowo Subianto Monday (08/25) chaired cabinet limited meeting on the national economy with Red and White Cabinet Ministers at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. The meeting discussed strategic issues covering food security, waste-based energy management, and the village cooperatives program to strengthen people’s economy.
In his statement after the meeting, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan explained that the President gave special directive to accelerate waste-to-energy program.
“I mentioned that we have signed it. So, we just have to wait for the Presidential Regulation to be promulgated.
In addition, the limited meeting also discussed updates on the village cooperatives program, which is currently ongoing. The Coordinating Minister mentioned that the implementation is still waiting for the provision issued by Finance Ministry.
“Hopefully it can be completed in the near time, maybe in one or two weeks,” he said.
During the meeting, the Coordinating Minister also reported that as many as 360 thousand tons of food aid have been distributed, adding that the stabilization of food supplies and prices (SPHP) program with a target of 1.3 million tons is still slowing down because the average daily distribution still reaches 6 thousand tons.
“Our target is 30 thousand tons per day. So, in one or two weeks it can be completed, and the markets everywhere will see a surge in SPHP commodities. If a decline in SPHP commodities occurs, we can overcome it,” said Coordinating Minister Zulkifli Hasan.
Similar to Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman also gave his report to President Prabowo on the rice price, which is gradually going lower. In addition to that, the Minister also mentioned about the Government’s preparedness in carrying out market operations, which will be held continuously up to December.
“We provide SPHP rice as many as 1.3 million tons up to December. Insha Allah, our target is to make the rice price decrease gradually,” the Minister explained. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat) (AW/MUR)
