President Prabowo receives a phone call from Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, on Tuesday (04/21).

President Prabowo Subianto, on Tuesday (04/21), received a phone call from Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, who expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s initial export of 250,000 tons of urea fertilizer to Australia.

“Prime Minister Albanese expressed his appreciation for Mr. President’s approval of Indonesia’s initial export of 250,000 urea fertilizer to Australia,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in his written statement.

In addition to Australia, Indonesia is also exploring its fertilizer export markets in several other countries as an effort to strengthen Indonesia’s role in the global supply chain.

“In the future, some of the urea fertilizer will be exported to India, the Philippines, Thailand, and Brazil, with a total export commitment of approximately 1 million tons,” he added.

The Government has also emphasized that the export policy is being implemented carefully to maintain a balance in domestic supply, in line with the sufficient national production capacity. Currently, domestic urea production exceeds domestic demand.

“Based on data from the Ministry of Agriculture, the national urea production amounts to 7.8 million tons while the domestic demand stands at 6.3 million tons,” he said.

Using this approach, the export will not only add value to the national economy but also ensure the availability of fertilizer for domestic farmers.

“This step is expected to maintain the domestic supply stability and expand Indonesia’s contribution to the global market,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/MMB)
