Indonesia and UAE Deepen Strategic Cooperation as President Prabowo Subianto and MBZ Hold Bilateral Talks in Abu Dhabi

President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (02/26) held a bilateral meeting with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) at Qasr Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi.
The meeting was part of President Prabowo Subianto’s working visit aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s strategic partnership with the UAE, that has continued to grow rapidly in recent years.
Upon arriving at Qasr Al Bahr, President Prabowo Subianto was warmly welcomed by President MBZ. The meeting took place in the palace’s open garden, where the presence of palm trees and the backdrop of the Abu Dhabi sunset created a warm, intimate, and familial atmosphere from the very beginning.
The delegations from both countries sat facing each other in a circular arrangement, fostering an atmosphere of equality, openness, and mutual respect.
President Prabowo Subianto was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE Judha Nugraha, and President Director of state-owned defense equipment manufacturer PT. Pindad (Persero) Sigit P. Santosa.
Meanwhile, President MBZ was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Presidential Court Advisor Mohamed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Advisor for Strategic Affairs Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei, and UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri.
The meeting continued with a communal iftar held in a solemn and intimate atmosphere. The spirit of Ramadan further deepened the sense of brotherhood between the two leaders. President Prabowo Subianto also joined his delegation in performing the Maghrib prayer in congregation.
The dialogue continued in an expanded meeting that discuss several strategic agendas, including enhanced cooperation in energy and investment, as well as in future economic partnerships. The meeting reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to strengthening long-term and mutually beneficial collaboration.
To conclude the visit, President Prabowo Subianto and President MBZ held a tête-à-tête in an open and constructive atmosphere. Their direct conversation reflected the personal closeness and their strong commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Indonesia and UAE.
This meeting carried significance as the year of 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Indonesia’s diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the UAE. This half-century of partnership provides a solid foundation for both nations to open a new chapter of broader, deeper, and more impactful strategic cooperation for the prosperity and well-being of their peoples.
