A warm and friendly ambiance was felt during the luncheon of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and the players, coaches, and officials of the Indonesian National Football Team at his private residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta on Friday (6/06), the day after their significant 1–0 victory against China in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises and the Chairman of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), Erick Thohir, stated that the luncheon was very meaningful for the players.

“I think the coaches and players feel the extraordinary appreciation from the President since they are invited to his private residence, not to the Merdeka Palace. So they feel like a family, and the President also accepts them as family. As we know, the team members have sacrificed a lot for our nation, and the President appreciates that,” Erick said in a press statement to the press after the meeting.

In a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, the national team enjoyed their luncheon with President Prabowo. The captain of the national team, Jay Idzes, expressed his impression of the meeting.

“We had a very good lunch together. After the win yesterday, President Prabowo wanted to celebrate with us, so we really appreciate his invitation. We also get the chance to meet President Prabowo and his family. We are very grateful, and we had a good time,” Jay said.

The luncheon became livelier when the players sang together. “We did sing together, everybody, so we had a really good time. Most of the lunch was us singing together. That means we have a very good bond together,” continued Jay.

Similarly, the national team coach, Patrick Kluivert, also expressed his appreciation for President Prabowo’s invitation. He stated that the Indonesian national team is ready to face the final match with full enthusiasm.

“We appreciate that we got this invitation from the President, and we are very grateful for the fantastic victory yesterday and we are building for the future,” said Patrick.

The luncheon served not only as a form of moral support for the next important match, but also a moment to strengthen the emotional bond between President Prabowo and the national team. In an intimate atmosphere, nationalism was felt even stronger among the national team players.

Also accompanying President Prabowo in the luncheon were Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/MUR)
