President Prabowo Subianto Undertakes State Visit to Brunei, Receives Sultanate’s Highest Honor

President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (05/14) paid a state visit to Brunei Darussalam.

The President and his entourage departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Airbase in Jakarta at 07.00 Western Indonesian Time, heading Brunei International Airport in Brunei capital of Bandar Seri Begawan.

The send-off ceremony at the airport was attended by Commander of the Jakarta Military Region Rafael Granada Baay, Chief of Jakarta Police Inspector General Karyoto, and Commander of TNI Airbase Erwin Sugiandi.

In Brunei Darussalam, the President will be received by His Excellency Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah at Nurul Iman Palace, Bandar Seri Begawan. Following the welcome ceremony, President Prabowo and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, along with their respective delegations will hold a bilateral meeting.

During the visit, President Prabowo Subiianto will also be conferred with Brunei Darussalam’s Great Medal of Honor “Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati” (D.K.) from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Concluding the visit, the President is scheduled to attend a state luncheon hosted by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

“Brunei Darussalam’s Great Medal of Honor is awarded by the Bruneian Sultanate as the highest medal honor presented to heads of state and world leaders deemed to contribute to improve cooperation relation with Brunei Darussalam,” Deputy to Presidential Secretariat Head for Protocol, Press, and Media Yusuf Permana mentioned in his written press release.

The bilateral relation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam has been established over a long period of time following the diplomatic relation of both countries for more than 40 years. Today’s meeting of President Prabowo Subianto and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is expected to create more cooperation opportunities between both countries in various strategic sectors.
