President Prabowo Attends 80th Anniversary Celebration of Victory of Chinese People’s War of Resistance

President Prabowo Subianto, Wednesday (8/3), attended the 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance held at Tian’anmen, Beijing, China. President Prabowo’s presence at the parade marked Indonesia’s active participation in this historic event, which was also attended by a number of world leaders.

Upon arriving at Tian’anmen, the Head of State proceeded to the leaders’ lounge, passing by a guard of honor. Before joining in a group photo session, President Prabowo was warmly greeted by China’s President Xi Jinping and Madam Peng Liyuan.

During the group photo session, President Prabowo stood to the right of Russian President Vladimir Putin, demonstrating Indonesia’s important and respected position in international fora. After the group photo, President Prabowo and other world leaders proceeded to the Tian’anmen Rostrum.

From the Tiananmen Rostrum, President Prabowo Subianto sat alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin and Premier Li Qiang, watching and enjoying the festival held every decade. This year’s celebrations were attended by 26 Heads of State or Government, including Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Furthermore, several leaders of international organizations, such as New Development Bank (NDB) President Dilma Rousseff, also attended the celebration. On several occasions, President Prabowo also engaged in conversations with other country’s leaders attending the event.

Following the Tiananmen event, President Prabowo and other country’s leaders proceeded to the Great Hall of the People to attend a reception hosted by President Xi Jinping. The reception, held in a cordial atmosphere, served as a diplomatic event to further strengthened relations among countries.

The celebrations concluded with a performance of Chinese arts and culture. President Prabowo’s presence in Beijing underscores Indonesia’s active role in maintaining good relations with friendly countries and strengthening diplomacy internationally. (BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/LW)
