President Prabowo Praises Nahdlatul Ulama for its Contribution to Indonesia
President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (2/5) attended the 102nd anniversary of the nation’s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
The theme of this year’s anniversary of NU is “Working Together with the People for Indonesia Maslahat.”
The commemoration began with the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by Yaa Lal Wathan performed by the choir from SMK Ma’arif Depok and Satu Abad Nahdlatul Ulama performed by the Alma NU Orchestra. The event continued with a recitation of verses from the Quran.
As part of the ceremony, the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board (PBNU) and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto.
In his report, PBNU Chairperson Yahya Cholil Staquf stated that NU is fully committed to supporting the Government’s national programs and agendas, including the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG).
“We have formed the NU Acceleration Team to implement the free nutritious meal program and we have been working with the BGN to contribute to its success,” Yahya said.
In his remarks, President Prabowo congratulated NU on its 102nd anniversary. The President also expressed appreciation for NU’s role and contribution to the birth of Indonesia as a nation.
“On my personal behalf and on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, I extend my congratulations to NU. NU has played a significant role in the birth of our nation, Indonesia,” President Prabowo said.
On that occasion, President Prabowo also officially opened the 2025 National Conference of Islamic Scholars (Munas Alim Ulama) and the Grand Conference of Nahdlatul Ulama. These two events are scheduled to take place from February 5 to 7, 2025. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (RI/LW)
