Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of the Respiratory Care Building for Mothers and Children at Persahabatan Hospital, Jakarta, August 30, 2024

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Distinguished President of the Islamic Development Bank H.E. Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser;
Honorable Ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet, the President Director of the Persahabatan Hospital, and the entire team and staff;
Ladies and Gentlemen.

When I walked into the new building of the Persahabatan Hospital with my entourage, do you know what was their comments? Everyone said that it was like stepping into a five-star hotel. The building is nice and very clean; the architectural design is good; the lights are bright, unlike those hospitals that I frequently see in the regions, which are somewhat dark.

Therefore, I greatly appreciate this major work backed by the Islamic Development Bank with a budget for the building alone, just so you know, amounting to Rp494 billion. For the building alone, it is Rp494 billion. Then for the equipment, earlier I also saw very modern digital equipment. The budget for the equipment is Rp115 billion. You can add it up, that’s how much it is. In addition, the budget for the human resources development is at Rp42 billion. That is a significant amount of funding. However, it would not be a problem provided that this investment can offer the best services for the community, especially related to mothers and children respiratory care.

I believe there will be a lot of people coming from other regions, provinces, and islands outside Java who will also be referred here because the equipment and doctors are highly supportive of the recovery of our mothers and children. And, there will be no more need for our people to seek treatment abroad, to Singapore, Malaysia, Japan.
Seeing this kind of hospital, I believe we can do it here in Indonesia, at the Persahabatan Hospital.

This concludes my remarks. By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby inaugurate the respiratory care building for mothers and children at the Persahabatan Hospital, Jakarta.
