Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi delivers a press statement at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Saturday (3/21).

President Prabowo Subianto held an open house to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Saturday (3/21). Unlike the previous years, this event is specifically intended for the public as a form of togetherness during the Eid al-Fitr.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, in his press statement, conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings and explained the concept of this year’s open house event. He said President Prabowo had given his directives since a few days ago that the event would not require the presence of state officials.

“Since a few days ago, he has ordered that this event is not mandatory for officials from ministries or institutions. He doesn’t want to inconvenience them, perhaps due to family agendas or events. So, this afternoon event is specifically for the public,” said the Minister.

On this occasion, President Prabowo is also scheduled to greet the public attending directly, as has been the tradition in previous years. “Inshaallah, as in previous years, he will walk around to greet those who are willing to attend to celebrate Eid al-Fitr at the Merdeka Palace,” he said.

The number of attendees is estimated to reach 5,000 people. The Government is not limiting the attendees, but rather providing opportunities for the public to attend voluntarily.

“Indeed, we are not limiting or organizing events like we usually do in the August 17th event. We give the opportunity to the public who wish to attend voluntarily. They are welcomed to the event, as long as it is still possible for them to enter the Palace,” he said.

The Minister also said that this open house event is an annual tradition. However, it emphasizes the aspects of simplicity and empathy for the people’s condition.

“As we also conveyed in the circular, we urge Government officials, ministries, and institutions to lessen open house and halal bihalal gatherings because, as we all know, many of our brothers and sisters in various regions are still experiencing difficulties. Therefore, the President has chosen to prioritize the public,” said the Minister.

In addition, President Prabowo is also scheduled to welcome the previous Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, including the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the 7th President Joko Widodo.

Inshaallah, it is scheduled this afternoon,” the Minister concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/AW)
