Presiden Prabowo menegaskan komitmen Indonesia untuk membangun kesejahteraan rakyat yang berkeadilan melalui pemerintahan yang bersih, ekonomi terbuka, dan peran aktif dalam menjaga perdamaian dunia

President Prabowo in his keynote speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday (01/22), emphasizes Indonesia’s commitment to establish equitable people’s welfare through clean governance, open economy, and active role in upholding world peace.

President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (01/22) reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to advancing equitable welfare for its people through clean governance, open economy, and active role in upholding world peace.

The statement was delivered by the President during his keynote speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

According to the President, leadership ultimately has a simple yet fundamental purpose, adding that the mission of his administration is to deliver concrete improvement for the most vulnerable groups through a firm commitment to eradicating corruption and abuse of power.

“If the poor and the weak can smile and laugh, it means they have hope. It means they see a future. It means their livelihood is improving. So that is my mission today,” he said.

In the area of food security, the Head of State also disclosed a key national strategic achievement of the attainment of rice self-sufficiency, which was initially targeted to be achieved within four years but was realized in just one year.

The President expressed optimism that self-sufficiency in other food commodities could be achieved in the coming years.

“I set a target for [rice] self-sufficiency within four years and assigned it my team. They managed to achieve it in one year. I believe that within the next four years, we will achieve self-sufficiency in other food products as well, such as corn, sugar, and protein,” he said

Before world leaders, the Head of State asserted that Indonesia is not afraid of global economic integration, adding that various trade agreements and economic partnerships continued to be established with international partners.

“Our nation has been doing trading for hundreds of years. We are considering trade agreements as necessary instead of trend. We believe in the concept of mutual benefit,” he stated.

According to the President, fair and equitable trade does not pose a threat to national sovereignty.

The President went on to convey Indonesia’s vision of becoming a modern nation that is integrated into global economy and free from poverty.

“This [vision] calls for determination, good management, clean governance, as well as free from corruption and abuse of power. Ultimately, we must maintain efficient public administration,” he continued.

In addition, the President also highlighted the importance of bureaucracy reform and good governance, noting that regulatory reform, bureaucratic simplification, as well as investment in health and education sectors remain top priorities.

“Our Government must serve the public interest and not collude with greedy economic actors,” he stressed.

The Head of State also reaffirmed that Indonesia is open to both foreign and domestic investment and that Indonesia offers sustainable growth supported by evidence-based policies.

“We recognize that the investment prerequisites are stability, legal certainty, as well as strong and clean governance,” he added.

Concluding his speech, the President reiterated Indonesia’s position in promoting peace and environmental sustainability, while inviting the global community to establish a future grounded in hope and equity.

“Indonesia chooses peace over chaos. We want to be a friend to all and an enemy to none. A thousand friends are too few for us, while one enemy is too many. We want to be a good neighbor, a responsible global citizen, safeguarding the environment and nature,” he concluded.

President Prabowo Subianto’s speech at WEF 2026 reaffirmed Indonesia’s standing as a confident, reform-oriented and open nation, committed to people-centered welfare, with peace and equity serving as the compass of national development. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (YA/EP)
