Gov’t Provides Improved Railway Services at More Affordable Price

The state-owned railway operator PT KAI (03/17) launched the low-cost intercity train Kereta Kerakyatan, affirming the Government’s efforts to provide the public with a safe and comfortable transportation services at an affordable price, particularly for travellers during exodus ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that launching the low-cost intercity train is a follow-up action of President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to strengthen transportation for the public during Eid holiday. PT KAI also updated the train interior to provide comfort to the passengers.

Teddy stated that the ticket prices for this low-cost train are even sold lower during Eid holiday period compared to normal prices.

On that occasion, he emphasized that PT KAI has also made comprehensive service improvements to welcome Eid al-Fitr, including fleet rejuvenation, enhancements to the travel safety system, and station facility upgrades.

“[PT] KAI is also continuously improving various services, from fleet rejuvenation, travel safety system enhancements, to station facility updates including Gambir Train Station, so that the public’s journeys can be safer, more comfortable, and on time,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretary expressed hope that these various improvements can support the smooth flow of this year’s Eid al-Fitr exodus.
