President Prabowo Subianto conveyed feelings of emotion and pride after directly witnessing the achievements of People’s School students.

In his speech at the inauguration of 166 People’s Schools across Indonesia, the President stated that the opening of these schools shows the nation’s measures to meet the people’s needs.

“Imagine if at that time, the Government had not taken a courageous move. Let us do something unconventional, to build the best boarding schools for those who might have no hope, those from underprivileged families,” the President said in Banjarbaru city, South Kalimantan province, Monday (01/12).

On that occasion, the President delivered a special message to the students, urging them never to feel inferior about their family backgrounds. He also emphasized that whatever their parents’ occupations, those jobs are noble and performed with sweat and honesty.

“Honor your parents. If necessary, go home, pay respects, and kiss your parents’ feet. Never be ashamed. They are far nobler than the smarter ones but corrupting and betraying the nation and state,” he said.

Furthermore, the President stressed that the nation will continue to strive so that national wealth can be felt by all Indonesians. The People’s Schools serve as a symbol of the state’s presence for children from disadvantaged families.

“If they are not yet able, it’s not their fault, not your parents’ fault. Our nation simply hasn’t been able to provide the best for all people yet. But we will fight hard. We will fight hard so that all the nation’s wealth will be enjoyed by the entire Indonesian people,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidental Secretariat) (EST/LW)
