Workers Appreciate President Prabowo Presence on May Day

The spirit of thousands of workers from across Indonesia who gathered to commemorate International Workers’ Day (May Day) enlivened Monas (the National Monument) Square, Jakarta, on Friday (05/01). Each brought their own hopes and stories of struggle.
Maryadi, a worker at a food manufacturing company who traveled from Serang, Banten, said that May Day is more than a celebration but a moment to reflect on the real conditions faced by labors. He expressed hope for more affordable education and lower staple food prices so that workers and low-income families can live more decently.
Meanwhile, Sumarsih, a textile factory worker from Cimahi, West Java province, delivered her appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto for attending the May Day rally. She also emphasized the importance of continuous struggle, along with the hope for improvements in the labor system to ensure decent lives for all labors.
“Through May Day, I hope our struggle so far can be realized in line with the goals of workers,” she said.
In addition, Juwita, a domestic workers, traveled by bus along with dozens of fellow domestic workers from Pringsewu regency, Lampung province, to attend this May Day commemoration. She said that besides commemorating May Day, she also came to see Prabowo Subianto in person.
Their stories reflect the lives of Indonesian workers, which are full of hard work, hope, and a strong collective spirit.
