Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting, Presidential Palace, Jakarta, November 6, 2024
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
Good afternoon,
May prosperity be upon us all,
Shalom,
Om Swastiastu,
Namo Buddhaya,
Greetings of virtue,
Rahayu rahayu.
Honorable Vice President;
Esteemed members of the Red and White Cabinet, Coordinating Ministers, Ministers, Chairperson of the National Economic Council, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces, Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Attorney General, Head of the State Intelligence Agency, and other Agency Heads.
This afternoon, I am holding a Plenary Cabinet Meeting in regard to my plans to undertake state visits and work visits to several countries, including attending the APEC Summit in Peru and the G20 Summit in Brazil. I have also received invitations for a state visit to the Government of China, an honorary visit to the United States, and a working visit to the United Kingdom to meet the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, there is a possibility—I’m currently reviewing this—of an invitation to the G7 Summit as well, which is an honor as it signifies that Indonesia is deemed worthy of being invited to the G7 Summit. These matters cannot be overlooked, as they hold strategic value and are also related to our economic situation. We need to negotiate, explore available potentials, and resolve crucial and strategic issues with these groups of countries, which can be considered very important economic blocs essential for the survival of our economy.
To that end, I felt the need to gather you here to give some guidance while I am abroad. However, I believe that with today’s technology, such as video conferences, we can conduct meetings remotely if necessary.
I would also like to remind you all not to hesitate if any issues arise. If you have already communicated with the coordinating ministers but still seek further clarity from me, do not hesitate to contact me. Feel free to call me directly; I am open to it.
Let us now leave behind overly formal or feudal protocols. We are colleagues, serving the people together. While I may hold a position that can be seen as the leader of our team, and, along with the Vice President, have received the mandate from the people, we share the same duties and responsibilities to the people.
You may use technology, though, of course, sensitive matters should not be discussed over the phone. So, if you wish to convey important matters, feel free to reach out.
That concludes my remarks.
