President Prabowo Subianto received the progress report of Indonesia Hajj Village construction plan in Mecca from Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry/Head of the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, Head of Danantara Investment Management Board, Mr. Rosan Roeslani, at Merdeka Palace Jakarta on Wednesday (17/12). After the meeting, Rosan explained that the development of Hajj Village was a direct initiative by President Prabowo mandating the purchase and development of special facilities for Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

“I have just reported the President that it was under his instruction—his initiative—which has all this time mandated me to carry out the purchase as well as the development of the Hajj Village in Mecca,” Rosan said to the press.

Rosan explained that President Prabowo mandated him directly to follow up his initiative. As an initial step, the Government had carried out a conditional sales and purchase agreement.

“As an initial step, we have carried out conditional sales and purchase agreement as the plan begins in January 2026. We have bought a hotel at Thakher area with capacity of 1,461 rooms in three towers,” Rosan further explained.

Moreover, the Government has bought a five-hectare land in front of the hotel to build 13 towers and a mall. The Hajj Village stood on a strategic location about 2.5 kilometres from the Masjidil Haram. The access to Masjidil Haram would be easier by building a connecting bridge which was on construction.

“The Village is only 2.5 kilometres from the Masjidil Haram. Right now, a connecting bridge to the Masjidil Haram is under construction to be completed in 2026. The bridge will be named Al-Hujun Bridge.

“We have bought 1,460 rooms built in three towers with capacity of 4,383 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. By building 13 towers, the total rooms will be 6,025 rooms covering more than 23 thousand pilgrims,” he added.

Furthermore, Rosan said that the development of the Village was a manifestation of fulfilling the aspirations of the Indonesian Muslim community to have their own accommodation facilities in the Holy Land. He emphasized that the project is a direct initiative of President Prabowo, which was discussed during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman some time ago.

“This was a direct initiative by President Prabowo during his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman,” Rosan remarked. (Bureau for Press and Media of Presidential Secretariat) (GA/LW)
