President Prabowo Discusses Asset Management, Investment in Indonesia with Ray Dalio
President Prabowo Subianto, Friday (03/07), discussed strategies to manage national assets and increase investment in Indonesia with global investor Ray Dalio at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Several ministers and Indonesian businesspeople also attended the meeting.
In his opening remarks, President Prabowo underscored the importance of consolidating Indonesia’s economic power through a new entity, Danantara Indonesia Sovereign Wealth Fund, launched last February to integrate state assets to enhance efficiency and competitive edge on the global stage.
“We consolidated Danantara to make improvements, to enhance performance by making improvements. We do admit that we need improvements to ensure the good performance of our assets,” he said.
The Head of State stressed that openness to critical perspectives and the experiences of global investors and professionals is crucial in managing Indonesia’s assets moving forward while expressing hope that all economic entities can run efficiently and compete with other global entities.
“For that reason, I invited Indonesia’s economic figures in the private sector who have decades of experience in management, investment, and collaboration with the Government. Thus, the operations of Danantara will proceed in a careful and prudent manner,” he said.
During the meeting, the President also highlighted the launching of Indonesia’s new sovereign wealth fund and invited Ray Dalio to participate in Indonesia’s economic development.
“I just explained how we are very fortunate to have you as a very experienced player in global economics, [with] a lot of experience in Asia, in the Middle East, and in the world. And we’re very fortunate to have you as a friend,” President Prabowo said to Ray Dalio.
For the record, Ray Dalio is a global investor known for his broad knowledge of investment strategies and asset management. His presence in Indonesia is expected to provide valuable insights into optimizing state asset management and attract more investments in the country.
“We do need a critical advice. I think that the key to progress in the new world is always to be able to seek critical advice and have the courage to learn from others. I think that is the key,” President Prabowo remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/LW)
