President Prabowo Meets Investment Minister, Receiving Updates on Hajj Village, SOE Performance

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani met with President Prabowo Subianto to discuss the results of his official visit to Saudi Arabia and efforts to strengthen State-owned Enterprises’ (SOEs) performance.
“First, the program to develop, plan, and construct (Indonesian Hajj village) in the Holy City of Mecca has completed the architect selection process and the preparation of design illustration. When the President requested an update, we provided the latest update. I just returned from Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah to discuss the partnership with Saudi’s ministry of investment,” Roeslani said in a press statement after meeting with the President at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (08/06).
The Minister went on to say that President Prabowo also gave directives to simplify organizational structures within the SOE to reduce bureaucratic layers and, thereby, accelerate decision-making processes.
“The President’s directives include reducing [bureaucratic] layers, particularly in major SOEs such as Pertamina, PLN, and others, so we can speed up decision making processes, improve productivity, and maintain efficiency. Hopefully, these measures can also be implemented to other SOEs,” he said.
On that occasion, he also reported the President about the progress of the ongoing national strategic programs, including downstreaming process which is being pursued at various sectors.
“He also requested updates on these matters, as well as on the progress of downstream industrialization initiatives that are currently being implemented,” he stated.
President Prabowo’s calling for an update highlighted his commitment to accelerating the implementation of strategic national priorities, including enhancing services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, ensuring the governance reforms of SOEs, and accelerating downstream industrialization as a main pillar of national economic development.
