Indonesia Takes Home Second Gold Medal at 2024 Paris Olympics

Indonesia has once again secured its second gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah won in the 73-kilograms category.

Competing at South Paris Arena 6 in France on Thursday (08/08) local time, the 21-year-old lifter recorded a total lift of 354 kg, with 155 kg in the snatch and 199 kg in the two-part lift clean and jerk.

Rizki surpassed Thailand’s Weeraphon Wichuma, who secured the silver medal with a total lift of 346 kg (148 kg in the snatch and 198 kg in the clean and jerk), and Bulgaria’s Dimitrov Bozhidar, who took the bronze with a total lift of 344 kg (154 kg in the snatch and 190 kg in the clean and jerk).

Previously, Indonesia managed to win a gold medal through rock climber Veddriq Leonardo and also a bronze medal in woman singles’ badminton achieved by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. (UN) (RIF/LW)
