President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (07/01) led a ceremony to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) at the National Monument, Jakarta. On the occasion, the President underscored the critical role of the Polri in upholding national sovereignty and ensuring fair prosperity for the people.

“Our goal is that every citizen in this nation enjoys freedom and prosperity. The founding fathers dreamed of Indonesia that is free from poverty and hunger, where justice prevails. That is our goal. Therefore, our country needs a police force that is strong, professional, clean, and beloved by the people.” the President said in his remarks.

The Head of State ordered that the police must stand with the people and serves as the primary protectors of the vulnerable and marginalized.

“The people’s police must be present among the people to defend and protect them, especially those who are weakest, most oppressed, and poorest. History teaches us that no nation has succeeded without a strong and capable police force,” he added.

President Prabowo went on to say that Indonesia is a wealthy nation, making the state a target of external interference and expected the National Police to play a role in safe guarding national assets and sovereignty.

“Indonesia is a rich nation and with that wealth comes persistent external threats. That is natural since the strong often dominate the weak. But Indonesia refuses to be dominated. We are not weak. And that is why the police must play a crucial role in safeguarding our nation’s wealth and sovereignty,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/MMB)
