Prime Minister (PM) of Japan, Ishiba Shigeru, accompanied by Japan’s First Lady, Madam Ishiba Yoshiko, made an honorary visit to the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery, Jakarta on Saturday (01/11). This visit was part of PM Ishiba’s official agenda in Indonesia, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan.
PM Ishiba and his entourage arrived at the cemetery around 8:30 AM local time. Upon arrival, PM Ishiba, Madam Yoshiko, and delegation stood solemnly in the main courtyard of Kalibata Cemetery. A reverent atmosphere fell over the group as they paid tribute to the final resting place of Indonesia’s national heroes.

The Prime Minister and Madam Yoshiko bowed deeply and lowered their heads to honor the Indonesian heroes who had sacrificed their lives for the nation. This gesture symbolized their profound respect and the close friendship between the two nations.

Following the tribute, PM Ishiba and Madam Yoshiko participated in a ceremonial wreath-laying at the Heroes’ Monument within Kalibata Cemetery. They also scattered flower petals over several graves of the heroes.
Afterward, the Prime Minister and spouse proceeded to the guestbook room to sign the official guestbook. From the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery, PM Ishiba then continued his journey to the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java, where he was scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
